The educational goals of the National Society, Sons Of The American Revolution include supporting educators and parents in their efforts to teach our youth about America’s founding history and principles. We assist in implementing developmentally appropriate history curricula and educational media resources to help meet the learning goals in classrooms nationwide. The SAR can facilitate research in the revolution and connect educators and parents with knowledgeable and qualified advisers to support lesson planning. We enthusiastically sponsor youth programs, providing opportunities for students to become involved through essay and oration contests based on historical and patriotic themes. The organization also provides communities across the country of local events and the philosophical basis of the American Revolution and the Constitution. SAR members commemorate important events of the revolutionary period for students and the public.

New Jersey was the “Crossroads of The American Revolution”. There were more engagements and actions in New Jersey during the revolution than in any other state. Throughout the state, there are many historic sites and societies available to students and families. Each one offers interactive educational programs introducing our youth to our nation’s founding. Given the hundreds of skirmishes and battles that occurred within our borders, as well as the number of historic homes and buildings, New Jersey is a living classroom.

The key mission for the members of the New Jersey Society, Sons of the American Revolution, is to support a diverse understanding of New Jersey’s role in our nation’s beginnings. We encourage all students, educators, and families to become active learners in our history.

The National Society, Sons of the American Revolution, provides several grants and contests open to all educators and students. We are pleased to also offer some links to a few selected educational resources.
